Thank you for your support and friendship as
we move ever along the level of time into 2012.
Another year has passed away and even as the
master represents the sun in the east rising each
new day, each year a new brother rises in the East
as a new master of the Lodge. This change reminds
us that each day can be new and different by our
own election. The past does not dictate the future –
unless we allow it to.
I am thankful for the great examples of our past
masters and hope to not detract from the quality of
the lodge but to help it continue to grow.
Regarding growth, I wish to continue our current
direction of growing the lodge by numbers unless it
is at the expense of the quality of the fraternity. We
do not recruit men to Freemasonry. We live our lives
in ways that inspire greatness and goodness in the
lives of our fellow man. If such are inspired by us and
wish to associate with us, we gladly open the doors.
We cannot control whether or not the Lodge will
grow in numbers. We can control whether or not our
lodge will grow in quality.
The duties of the master are to open and govern
the lodge, set the craft to work and to give them
good and wholesome instructions for their labors. I
will do this to the best of my ability. I desire to help
share light, strengthen families and thus build and
strengthen the lodge by strengthening the brothers
and their homes. As we improve, others will be
inspired and desire to associate with us and so the
numbers requesting admission will follow.
Accordingly, we will be sensitive to the amount of
time necessary for lodge activities, when they are
held, and who they involve. When it comes to our
cable tows, our families are the closest and have the
first right to our time, talents, and desires. Families
will come first, the lodge and our brothers second.
It is also my expectation that we will see either
an improvement in our current location or a new
location to meet in that is fit to entertain guests, not
detract from our events, and inspire that refinement
of character which we hope to inculcate in our own
lives.
May 2012 bring with it many blessings and
opportunities for growth and happiness. May your
families and friendships be blessed and cemented
together as we endeavor to live uprightly before God
and on the level with all mankind.
